As bad as it is, I can understand why some of these people don't declare their marriages when they themselves were sponsored as a dependent through their parents. It's because a dependent cannot get PR if they are married. Lot of these guys are more concerned about getting PR than their own spouse.
I don't understand however, why someone who applies to get PR through a skilled worker program would want to deliberately fail to declare their spouse. Is there something I'm missing here?
Some people that don't declare a common-law partner simply don't realize the definition of common-law according to CIC and think since there is no common-law status in their own country, they don't need to declare it. Often a case of not reading or understanding the CIC guidelines well enough.
Other times as you said, it's fraud in that they wouldn't be eligible under their parents if they have a spouse. So they think they can enter as single and then simply apply for their spouses later. I'm sure most are not aware that the extreme rule of a spouse being banned permanently under family class, even exists.
A lot of these cases could be avoided if they included this basic info in the COPR package (moreso than they do today), and what the consequences are for not reporting changes to your family.
Hi guys! I have one very serious question.
Here is the scenario,
I have two sisters, One is elder and as my twin. But I have date of birth difference on our Date of birth certificates and other documents ( only four month difference) , therefore when I applied my Student visa to Canada I did not mention her and only mention my parents and elder sister in my family information or family background declaration form and same when I applied my PR. Now she wanted to come to Canada but I here she is confused. if she apply and do not mention me but mention our parents and elder sister will she be rejected ? or will have affect on my PR? the only problem was Date of birth as its obvious that two children from same mother will not have date of birth as 4 months so my agents suggesteed me not to mention her as I might be get rejected. I would love to hear from you guys and seek professional advice.
I received my CPR in march and left to India for getting married in April thinking that I will do my landing on my way back from India. I got married in April . I became PR on may at airport but failed to inform the officer about my marriage.
In this situation am I eligible to apply for my spouse under spouse family visa. Or is there any other way I can apply. :'( :-[
I really appreciate your all your help and advice in advance.
Thank you all

I read this thread and felt bad for OP as most people were criticizing her instead of helping her find a solution. She obviously didn’t know that getting married after receiving her PR visa would have any impact on her entering Canada otherwise she wouldn’t have done it and frankly, I find it outrageous that CIC and CBSA can cancel your COPR if you get married after your PR visa is issued. Why would someone’s COPR be cancelled because they got married after they received their Visa to travel? The spouse will still have to go through the scrutiny of spousal sponsorship so I don’t know what the rational is here. I have a few options for people in a similar situation and I am writing now for others to benefit as I am sure OP already found a solution to her situation. I may not have experienced this personally but I know a few people who have and it helps when you have people who can support and advise you.
As someone mentioned, you can apply for a temp visa for your spouse. However, he will indicate that he is single and when he gets here, you get married and sponsor him as your spouse (in Canada Class). This is the fastest option
Also, your spouse can apply for a skilled worker program just like you did and come as a PR. Still no mention of being married.
Another solution is to process a divorce with your spouse in your home country and then go back to your home country, remarry him and sponsor him to Canada. People have done this and succeeded.
No one should tell me that these options are illegal or misrepresentations. Most of you on this forum have misrepresented in one situation or another and no one judged you or called you out because you kept it to yourself. So no one should judge others here.

If you’re so outraged, contact your MP to ask the Government to modify the act
They are applying to immigrate to a country , there’s obligations involved . You know rules .
