Hello wondering if anyone who was a failed refugee was detained and deported and has an experience filing under spousal sponsorship? I would be very interested to know your process and timeline.

My husband lived in Canada, applied for refugee, was denied and deported. We got married in Canada June 1, 2012, he went back to Mexico June 17, we applied for spousal October 1st and the application was sent to Mexico City October 30th. Now our e-case says: APPLICATION RECEIVED and they also received our medical results already.

Hope that helps a little!

Do you know someone with a similar case?
I cant seem to find anyone who was detained and then deported.

We have passed eligibility, criminality, and medicals at this point
We dont have word on if we have passed security or any response to our ARC

It's kind of confusing for me but he had an interview with the immigration officer telling him that he was denied but that he could apply for humanitarian in January 2012 ...she said it would take atleast 6 months to process the humanitarian...In April he was called for another interview and told he was denied humanitarian already and had to leave...he told the officer we were planning to get married June 1st...the officer said that he could choose a date to leave close after we got married...so he left June 17th...my husband says that he was deported but for me it seems like he left willingly...so I don't know what they will think of his refugee denied claim and what problems it will cause for our spousal application...the more I read on the forum the longer and more complicated I think it will take :S

Your husband was deported AND lefting willingly lol.
It was the same for us,
my husband was denied refugee, applied for PRAA was denied, met with the CBSA officer and they asked him how long he needed to get his stuff ready to leave and he said a few weeks so they gave him 30 days to leave the country.
and he left within the 30 days and paid his own ticket but he was still deported. :)
