extension work permit and the common law partner problem

My common-law partner's work permit is going to expiry and I am waiting for extent my work permit,but in the same time I am waiting to process the PR. My partner's work permit is not under me before.
I want to know how I can help my partner to extent the work permit?

You need, in any case, to add your common-law partner to your PR application.

S/he can apply for a spousal open work permit as your common-law partner.

All the above requires that you meet CIC's definition of Common-law, and that you have a valid WP.
