Extension to become common law questions

If denied a year extension request for visitor visa to become common law, will it make it harder to be accepted if I try re applying again?

Also, should I apply 30 days before or would it be better to apply 3 months before my visa ends? since I am asking for 13 months.

Apply for the extension around 30 days before your visa ends. Don't apply too early.

Yes - visitor visa extension refusals can make it more difficult to apply in the future. Typically it means you must provide stronger evidence that you are a visitor and have ties to your home country.

Oh ok. Would it be smarter to go home for a few months then come back and restart or apply this go for a year? And should I apply for 6 months at a time?

Also how would I show ties while extending for that time?

if you're already in canada and you want to stay to become commonlaw, it's much better to apply for an extension of stay online with IRCC. if you leave for an extended period of time, then you can not count that time towards your commonlaw status. you need to be able to prove 365+ CONSECUTIVE days of cohabitation. if you leave, and you haven't reached commonlaw status yet, you'll end up needing to start from scratch.

ask scylla already suggested, it's best to apply for the extension no more than 30 days before your current stay expires.

it's acceptable and usually recommended to ask for a 12+ month extension. While they can always give you less than what you ask, they will never give you more. if they don't give you enough time to make commonlaw status, then you would want to apply for another extension down the road.

Thank you, the problem is I haven't started the common law process and I can't until April, so I was going to extend it until April 2018 as I have already been in Canada for 6 months by the time thus April comes
