extension of 30 day deadline of passport submission for pr visa

I got a letter first week of July 2015 asking me to submit my passport within 30 days for stamping of pr visa. I have a business travel scheduled for the month of August and cannot submit my passport. I sent them an email asking if I can extend the submission of passport to Sept 2015 but have not received a reply yet. My travel is coming up soon and have not received a reply and 30 day deadline is coming up soon. Is it possible to extend submission of passport? My passport expires 2018 and letter indicates that visa expiry to enter canada is June 2016.
