Hello,

I hope I will get the suggestions from you guys.

I am on my work permit ( specialized KN), it expires at the end of October, I am going to apply to extend it. My situation did not require LMO when I applied for it (I got it at the airport), now when I am going to extend it does my employer have to apply for the LMO? The situation has not changed, the work stays the same, just want to extend it.

What do you think?

in under what category are you working for?

Thanks for fast reaction, I am not really familiar with those terms, but this was foreign worker transfered to Canadian branch/affiliated company. Not sure if this is what you are asking about :/

Do you have LMO before? If yes I think you need a new LMO coz they will base on how long you will be working with the company..Better call CIC to make sure, they will probably knows the best answer for your query..

No, my situation did not require LMO, so I did not need to apply. I am just wondering if they can change their mind now and say that I have to get it, even though my case did not require to have one. The work conditions did not change.

Have you referred to the CIC website to look for your answer? There was such a fuss about intra company transfer positions this year, it would be worth checking. Is there someone in HR at your company who handles the paperwork who might have dealt with renewals recently?

The company hired an immigration lawyer who will deals with, he is a bit slow so I am trying to find info on my own. I was checking at cic did not find nothing special, just the info that transferred employees do not need that but really there was not much info than that. I was reading the manual for "foreign workers", there is too much data there I do not understand. What about this fuss you have mentioned? What was it about exactly?

Last Spring the ICT issue blew up when it was discovered a number of companies were bringing in off shore employees who were displacing Canadians. In one instance, the Canadian employees had to train their replacements before being displaced (Royal Bank, I think).

Right, I heard about that. My situation different though, I do the training for Canadian employees here, I am not even even paid by Canadian company and I do not have contract with it. I am employed by the company from my country which cooperates with the one here. That is why I had to apply for the work permit at the airport because they would not let me in (we did not expect I would need one when I am still employed by the company from another country).

is there any way for open work permit holder belonging to noc o or a or b job can extend there open work permit with job letter but with out any lmo ?
