I lived in Canada for 1.5 years while dating someone seriously, then moved back to the states for 6 months, and now am back in Canada with a 6 Month visitor visa... Am I able to extend the visitor visa for an additional 6 months so we can obtain common-law status?
What's the likelihood of being denied? Would it be better to apply for a Conjugal Sponsorship?

Provided you can show proof of finances to support your extended stay, you should have no issues.
There is ZERO chance of a conjugal app succeeding, so don't even try. There are no legal or immigration barriers preventing you from marrying or becoming common-law.
