So my common-law partner and I have just finished getting our Partner visa application ready and we will be sending it this week along with his open work permit application.
Only problem is, we have just realized that when he entered Canada, he was only granted 3 months and therefore his visitor visa will be expiring in a week.
How can we go about avoiding him needing to leave the country? Is it too late to extend, or will applying for the common-law visa automatically put him on a bridging visa?
Feeling very stressed as we don't want him to overstay
Apply for an extension.....now! As long as it reaches IRCC before his departure date you'll be fine. Applying for the pr does not carry any special status. You need to maintain it yourselves.
Thank you! That leads me to my next question: to extend his tourist visa, he needs to prove he has got funds. Only problem his, the remaining of his money is in MY bank account here in Canada, and I will be provins until he gets to work as I am employed. Is that gonna be an issue?
