I am currently living with my boyfriend at the moment, i've been in Canada for 4 months. I am trying to immigrate to Canada through the common law route to be with my boyfriend. My passport didn't get stamped when I arrived, so I have the temporary standard 6 months status. When I apply to extend my stay online at the 5 months mark, the application asks why I want to extend my stay in Canada. Do I explain that I am living with my boyfriend and after one year I will be applying for permanent residence? Or that i'm just visiting him and want to stay longer? This may be straightforward but i'm not sure and don't want to get denied for my extend your stay application.

You should specifically state that you are living with your boyfriend and want to live together for a full year to become common law so that he can sponsor you for PR. Approval is pretty much guaranteed if you say this. Either he or you should also provide a bank statement to demonstrate there are funds available to support your stay without working.
