Guys, Anyone from Canada on this group? Please share me the outlook of accounting/ finance job market for a person like me. That would be highly appreciated. I am worried if I would be able to get a job if I get the PR.
Myself:
NOC: 1111/1112
Qualifications: ACCA (UK), Msc Accounting (UK), CFA Level 2
Outside Canada Experience: 4.5 years
Industry: Investment Banking
EE Score: 417
There are plenty of opportunities, especially contract based in Toronto GTA - depends exactly what you're looking for - I can let you know of a few recruiters if you tell me what type of role you're interested in.
ACCA was treated as Canadian Bacherlors Degree and Msc Accounting was treated as Canadian Masters Degree. Didnt have CFA assessed.
I am looking for an analyst or an associate position in a money management firm/ wealth management firm/investment bank. I plan to obtain CGA under reciprocal membership arrangement with ACCA if I get the ITA.
Kindly let me also know of recruiters based in Toronto. It would be really helpful if I could contact them directly.....
My Short Profile:
NOC: 1112
Qualifications: BTech - Electrical, PGDBM - Finance & Marketing, CFA charterholder
Outside Canada Experience: 10 years; working as an Investment Analyst
Industry: Investment Management (Equity Markets)
IELTS score: Band 9 overall
EE Score: 390
I am a CA (ICAI) and a CFA L2 candidate , I have completed my 3.5 years of articles at a medium sized firm in India .
Also right now I work as a Financial Analyst in a Intl Bank (MIS)
I have 468 points , can somebody advise me whether my 3.5 years of articles will be accepted as work experience and what would be most appropriate NOC Code for me
as I am confused between 1111-3.5 years and 1112-1.5 years , should i mention these both while filling my EE profile .
Also how do I go about finding employment or start building contacts etc in canada ..
We seem to have a very similar profile, however your EE score is far higher than mine as mine is 417. I am not that sure about the articleship work experience though. Are you appearing L2 this June?
Yes, L2 is due this June .
Well I had read on the CIC website that part time work ex is considered , and my articles was full time plus it was 35hrs a week.
I hope that they do consider .
Also NOC 1111, mentions the word "articles" that can be considered .
Although, I am a bit lost in finding employment , Can you advise me on that .
I am not too sure on that. I am just waiting and watch how EE drama unfolds. I dont think obtaining LMIA is even possible being outside Canada, so just havent bothered about it. Fixed Income looks like a total mess in L2. How is the preparation going for L2?
Okay .. but do update me if you find any solution , that will be much appreciated .
Haven't reached on that book yet, far behind ..
Managing it with work :/ , let's see how the exam goes .
@pziegler1986: Yes I'm showing my degree and accountancy qualification separately for 128 points.
I emailed CIC (not expecting a response) about what to populate in
- Level of Education
- Level of Education (Canadian Equivalent shown on the report)
based on
- 3 year Bachelors Degree - WES assessed as 4 year Bachelor’s degree
- 3 year Chartered Accountant qualification - WES assessed as 3 year Bachelor’s degree
CIC replied (three weeks later!) saying "You may submit evidence of more than one completed educational credential as shown in your ECA report."
@ Nikhil89: In the same email to CIC I asked "Work history: Can I enter any of the experience during my 3 year Chartered Accountancy training contract?". CIC replied with the following: "No, work performed before graduating does not count as skilled work experience. They are considered part of an educational/training program" so I left those 3 years out of work history.
Hi Bean counter,
Thanks for the information , what I read under the hsrdc website for NOC1111
they had mentioned that articleship is considered .
Nonetheless , I will read once again and try to understand what it says exactly.
Also, while u fill up your EE profile which NOC to choose one which matches your qualifications or the one which matches your job profile .
since at my present not considering my training of 3.5 years (1.5 years before my b.com graduation and 2 years after my b.com graduation) , I have MIS analyst experience in a bank and i don't think that fits into 1111 but my CA qualification matches 1111 NOC
@ beancounter : can you please provide me with the cic email id.
also when you mean graduation, is it all right to consider your post b.com articleship experience to take into account
Your response to the above queries will be highly appreciated guys to
