The border officers at Peace Arch/Blaine, WA at least seem to interpret as #2. Particularly if there's a lot of time left on the VR -- there was 9 months left on mine the next time I crossed the border. Wouldn't make sense to invalidate it and say I now have 6 months (regular visit time) and would be a time waster to make me go to secondary to get a new VR for 9 to 12 months when (hopefully) I'll get PR before then.

It all makes sense. I'm just worried. I'm staying with my husband ( following our wedding on the US on Halloween) until my PR is done, and attending school in January. I was hoping I could keep it for at least paperwork purposes. But you are also right, I will be returning to visit my fiance on my days off and though I'm in the states right now to take care of my business here, I will be returning in a few days. And when I left the other day, they didn't take it. Of course, I come and go once a month. The IO issued it thought it seemed to make the immigration process easier for us if I had a number.
Probably, I guess, in September, after my summer job is over. I could request a new one since I'll be 'visiting' in Canada for the wedding then through the PR process. It really doesn't affect too much, since I have not filled out the paperwork yet ( things may change between now and then, updates and such ;) ) I've been through enough times that they really don't bat and eye. The POE we use is fairly small though.

I live between two bridges, Prescott and 1000 Islands Bridge (closer to 1000 Islands). Both are pretty tiny. But Prescott has some very arrogant, testy and nosy officals. Asked why I don't have kids, asked why my husband had to move to Canada instead of me moving down there. I usually say something that will make them go "oh..." but it's still none of their business. Small doesn't always mean good haha. Personally, I love the 1000 Islands Bridge, both sides. Very friendly, very polite. It's positive there. Whereas Prescott, it's like you're bringing in 100 pounds of coke or something!!

I would, it's the closest crossing to Kingston that does Immigration :) Hubby and I will be moving to Kingston in the future, he works in Gananoque now haha.

Nice. My fiance and I are getting excited. Hopefully we will scope out the area soon. It's a big move for me but I can't wait to start my new life. ;D.
