Expired visa, valid work permit

Hi

I am currently working FT in Toronto on a fresh post-graduation work permit. However, my visa was student visa and expired on the 31st of December, 2010. If I want to exit (and then re-enter Canada) in the future, do I have to get a temporary residence visa?

Do I apply for it at a Canadian Consulate office abroad (USA) and can I do it while in Canada, or I can file an application somewhere in Canada?

You apply to one of the Canadian offices in the US if you require a TRV.
