Expired Study Permit, Vaild Temporary Visitor Visa

Hi,
My question is about an international student.
The kid has a TRV vaild until 2021.
He obtained a study permit later.
He recently entered Canada in 2019-09-02 with a vaild study permit expired on 2019-09-30.
He has no student visa, always used the TRV on passport.
Now that the study permit expired 4 months ago, he is not eligible for a restoration.
Is he a student in Canada? In that case, he already lose his status,and will have to leave Canada ASAP.
Is his status visitor in Canada? In that case, given the 6-month time, his temporory stay should be valid through 2020-03-01.

1. No he is not a student or visitor, it appears he has no status.

TRV does not grant any status, it only allows the person to travel to Canada. Since he is 90 days past restoration there are no options to restore valid status in Canada and has to leave.
