Experience in getting letter from Immigration and refugee board of Canada?

Hi All,

I am a May 2014, CEC applicant still awaiting decision.My passport is expiring in next 5 months.So i need to get my passport reissued.
When i applied for it at BLS-Surrey they said since your work permit type is case/type 27(BOWP) you need to get a letter from Immigration and refugee board of Canada attesting that you have not claimed refugee status in Canada.

I sent a request to ATIP@irb-cisr.gc.ca requesting for the same.But i am not sure how much time it will take for them to issue that letter.
Does anyone have such experience?

Hello Yes , i do have the same experience. they asked me for that letter and i have emailed them(ATIP@irb-cisr.gc.ca )about the letter. the next day they sent me an simple application form(name , dob , address) to fill it and send them .after sending them the letter dully filled and signed letter within 10 working days i received the letter to my address.
