Thanks Winterfox for sharing your story. I am pretty much sure that it will help others.
One question.
I will be resigning from the company as it is sending me back to India permanently and not ready to re-staff to any other project within Canada. Do you thing this reason would be justifiable to get the EI.
I am on a close WP and resigned from my current JOB with which my closed WP is tied to. Although my Closed WP is valid till Oct 2013, I have valid Visa as well till Oct 2013. I am planning a trip to India in June.My questions are:-
1) Can I leave Canada and come back in this case as I have no JOB here and I am on Close WP?
2) Can I apply for BOWP ahead of 4 months period?
3) Does my ex employer updates the CIC and cancel the WP? IS it the process in case any Closed WP guy resigns from Canada(inside)?
your work permit is closed to the company that you work for, the moment you quit this work permit is invalid and your employer has to report it to Immigration
so you have a 50/50 chance of not being to re enter canada
also dod you know that now you cant get another job without a new LMO and WP
when I was a foreign worker I changed employees but I had the new one apply for a LMP and WP first and when I had that in my hand I quit my job
I dont know if you applied for PR and qualified as FSW2 or FSW3 now this can void your qualification

If you voluntarily resign, you will not be eligible for EI. You can start looking for another employer willing to apply for a LMO for you. If you want to remain in Canada, you may want to consider applying to change your status to visitor(not allowed to work) before your current work permit expires.

if your company said that they will be sending you back to india thats means your contract is over so your work permit is done
start looking for another company in any field that will give you a lmo there are many in small towns in Alberta in the food sector that have open LMO
once you have new work permit start searching for one in your field that is willing to do the LMO
you have to move fast cause its a matter of time before your employer notifies immigration (they have to do it) and you get a letter saying that the work permit is revoked
EI wont apply cause
1 you quit your job
2 your position is still available in another country
3 the company that brought you moving your position elsewhere so its not layoff
