I am a Zambian Citizen who was issued an exclusion order in 2012. My exclusion order has since expired.I am married to a Canadian lady and we have a daughter together. We recently applied for a spousal visa for me to join my family. I am wondering if there is any success stories of this kind of situation and how long it would take. We have involved a lawyer. Thank you in advance
right here! issued an exclusion order 2011-2012. Applied for spousal sponsorship 2014, had no issues with my application. As you can tell from my stats, there was no delay in processing either.
Exclusion orders alone don't have a negative impact on PR applications/ approvals. The fact you are applying for PR shows you now understand the rules and are attempting to live in canada the "right" way. They like to see that!
There is also no need for a lawyer if your only issue is a past exclusion order. Lawyers should only be considered if there is a criminal or dependant issue. Save your money, read the info on this forum, and you'll be fine with submitting your application on your own.

If your lawyer couldn't tell you what rhcohen said he/she is not a good immigration lawyer. Either he/she knows, and is withholding info to get more money from you, or doesnt know and is fairly incompetent.
If you have already applied, you can get the best advice from this forum.
