I have an ex-domestic partnership that was terminated last year, and subsequently two questions about the verbage for the application:

Question 9. Which option to choose? Never Married, Married, Widowed, Legally Separated, Annulled Marriage, Divorced, Common-Law

Question 10. Have you been previously married or in a common-law relationship? (Are Domestic Partnerships considered Equivalent?)

Additional Family Information Section A: It says to sign that I do not have a spouse or a common-law partner, ex-spouse or former common-law partner. Does the ex-domestic partner need to be placed in the spouse or common-law partner field on the second line?

Thank you so much if you can help!!

1. If you lived together in a "domestic partnership" for a year or more, it is considered Common/law.
2. If the partner meets the definition of Common/law then you have your answer.

A common-law partner is anyone you have lived with for at least one year, in a "marriage like" conjugal relationship where you share a household, etc. CIC's definition of a common-law partnership can be found in Section 5.35 of the OP2 Family Class processing manual.
