eTA application - client action required.

Hi guys, I have posted this question under an old topic but I am looking for advice urgently because I have only limit time to respond to CIC

I applied for an eTA, and now they required submission of several documents:

Among other things, this is one requirement:

---->Itinerary, Travel: Detailed travel itinerary. Please provide your travel itinerary, including proof of a purchased return ticket. This must be received at this office by: 2016/10/07

My questions are:

- Should I book a ticket at this point?
- I am not going to have a return ticket to Australia anyway, because after Canada, I plan to go to China, and possibly to Vietnam before coming back to Australia (I am traveling around a month or more) - Is it critical to provide what they required (if I don't provide, they will refuse my eTA) or they will be okay with just a detailed itinerary?
