Eligibility Interview and biometrics invitation

Good day:

After one year, today I finally received an appointment for an eligibility interview and Minister’s Delegate Review (MDR) Notice scheduled after one week. I think in this interview, they will give me my Refugee Kit (brown paper) as Alan mentioned earlier. Montreal applicant here.

I was also wondering about the MDR notice on eligibility interview. In such situation, could be some inadmissibility issue on subsection 44. While he knows his situation better, i would speak to a lawyer about that.

*If the person is alleged to be inadmissible, then the border services officer

• may write a report, per subsection 44(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), outlining the allegations of inadmissibility and forward it to a Minister’s delegate for review
• may issue a temporary resident permit (TRP) to overcome the admissibility temporarily and admit entry to Canada
• 
  Minister’s delegate review
  Minister’s delegate reviews the report of alleged inadmissibility.
  
  If the report is found valid, then the Minister’s delegate upholds the report and decides on the disposition of the case.
  
  The disposition depends on the allegations and circumstances of each case and may include
  
  • referring the case to an admissibility hearing
  • allowing the person to leave Canada
  • issuing a TRP
  • issuing a removal order
• The Minister’s delegate may decide if a detention is warranted.
  
  If the report is found not valid, then the Minister’s delegate may take no action on the report and authorize the person to enter Canada, or they may prepare another report with the accurate allegation.

Ooh okey, when you mentioned about MDR i thought they could be some inadminisibility issues they want to bring during your eligibility interview. If your counsel didnt mention anything about that, thats good to go. All the best Mohamed, Ramadhan Kareem

It's the eligibility interview guys. I had my eligibility interview and it said MDR in the paper. It is then we will sign the papers and they will give us the claimant ID. Nothing to worry about.

It's the eligibility interview guys. I had my eligibility interview and it said MDR in the paper. It is then we will sign the papers and they will give us the claimant ID. Nothing to worry about.

Yes, I got to the IRCC office about 15-18 minutes before the appointment time. Got in with my appointment letter. They called me to a room. Told me that we are reviewing the papers and they have already referred my case to the IRB. Confirmed my information on the documents and signed the papers after reviewing them. Received my refugee claimant ID and claimant kit and that's it. It took almost 20 minutes in total. I wish you all the best of luck.

i am asking your date on your ID like it was the current date when they issued ID or it was the past date? as you said in another post they said referred to IRB already so date according to referred date or a current date when they issued the id?

so it was just about sign paper and that's all nothing was asked? just gave id sign papers and thats all?

SO it is like eligibility + biometric invitation however it was only biometric so it is like that just MDR is by default format for these days?

It could vary according to the cases and different factors. You might not get the same experience as me from the interview and your experience might not be applicable to someone else. Because I have heard about people needing to wait after the interview for a decision and such. In some cases, they ask a lot of questions. But for me, the issued date of the document was four days before the date of the interview. And they didn't ask any questions either. It wasn't a CBSA officer. The officer introduced herself as a councilor. Maybe the interview varies according to the complexity of the cases, credibility (according to the officer who goes through your story), place, and officers who are conducting the interview.

Guys, as I have mentioned earlier, the eligibility interview is a serious process. Please be prepared to answer any questions about your case during the interview. I have only shared my experience here. That doesn't mean they won't ask any questions during the process. Each case is different and hence there will be differences in how the process will go. The eligibility interview is to determine whether your case is credible or not and such. Once again, please be prepared and don't compare other cases with yours.
