My husband is going to L-1 Indentity for his fingerprints for FBI and a RCMP check.

They offer ink or electronic. We want the ink ones right?

Does the FBI accept electronic ones too? Just curious.

No, you have to get the ink ones for FBI. I had a second set done at a commissionaires and they had all the FBI information and knew the guidelines, so it should be pretty straightforward.

Great thanks for your reply :)

Just to clarify, the FBI will accept fingerprints taken electronically (scanner vs ink pad), but the results must be printed on a card. They will not take electronic submissions.

Good to know, Allison.. although I hope I won't need to get fingerprinted again :)

To build on AllisonVSC's post, an advantage of having your fringerprints taken electronically is that the software "grades" the prints and each finger can be retaken individually to get the best prints possible before printing them. This reduces the probability of getting your prints rejected (since you'll know upfront whether they meet basic quality standards). So, there are advantages to getting your prints taken electronically if you can find a place that will take them and then print them out for you to mail to the FBI.

My husband just came for the Identity center, they filed the RCMP fingerprints electronically so we will get it back faster, but the FBI one we send regular, thanks for your help people :)
