You did an excellent job with this thread. Can you please summarize your experience since you landed from day one regarding housing, job search, weather, desi foods, halal restaurants, driving license etc. Things to do and not to do....
I know that time to time you had mentioned items in your post but it would be really good help to new comers if you can provide all of that as a summary. I hope you can manage some time.
Those who are going to Alberta please advise how necessary is to get you credential /degrees assesses through IQAS (International Qualification Assessment Service) http://employment.alberta.ca/immigration/4512.html
Please advise what the requirements of the service are. What is the procedure?
Pl look for Settlement services, Alberta and they will do that for you and you don't need to pay anything, if you already have visa/copr.

Please i need Settlers in Edmonton to assist me . Either settlers in Calgary or Edmonton perse on housing and survival jobs . Can anyone with landing experience please help as i will be leaving in a couple of days time. This is very urgent. I need to check into an hotel for a week in order to look for housing or cheap apartment in Edmonton area.
Now for immigration application, credential assessment is mandatory. Those applied before, say in 2010, it wasn't mandatory, by now such applicants .are getting visa/copr If you fall in that category then you dont need assessment for visa, rather you need it for job purpose. So for such applicants, its easy, visit any settlement (settlement.org) office in Alberta they will help you and pay your fee for this.
