Hi All,
Could someone pls hep me confirm if driving offence in the UK would be considered as a criminal ofence that could hinder canadian permenant residency?Pls help! IN UK
Yes it could be. Apply for your Police Certificate. It will indicate if you have a live or trace on your record.
If you do, you might need to apply for rehabilitation from the Canadian government.

I think it depends if the offence results in a criminal conviction or not. I don't think minor speeding offences will show up on a police certificate - however, dangerous driving or drink-drive convictions will.
I seem to remember reading that for drink-driving you have to wait 5 years after your sentence is spent in order to be eligible to apply, so I imagine they take a similar stance with any dangerous driving convictions.
But for offences which don't show up on your criminal records (such as speeding offences within a certain % of the speed limit, so your basic 3 points £60 fine) I don't think it will affect it.
May I ask what the driving conviction was for?
Wayne.
