I recently arrived in Canada from the United Arab Emirates. I must provide a clean UAE driver's abstract and proof that I had no driving-related criminal convictions to obtain a commercial driver's license in Canada. I had initially submitted the e-certificate that I acquired from RTA's website, but my application was denied by the driver's licensing authority in Canada due to following reasons,
Reasons for Denial:
  • Your documentation does not mention your record of criminal convictions related to driving within the past three years
  • Your documentation is not original
  • Your documentation has not been legalized/attested by the UAE Foreign Ministry in the UAE
What is Required:
  • Contains your record of traffic offences within the past two years
  • Contains your record of criminal convictions related to driving within the past three years
  • Must be legalized/attested by the UAE Foreign Ministry in the UAE
I have contacted both the RTA in UAE and ICBC in Canada to get further clarification. RTA representatives told me that they could only issue an e-certificate and ICBC is telling me they won’t accept an electronic document. It has to be an original certificate.
Does anyone faced/facing same issue? What actually we have to submit?
