Here's my situation in a nutshell.

I have been officially living with my partner (changed official address to the same place) since January this year (almost 9 months now). I already have all the documents needed to submit my profile to the Express Entry program as a Federal Skilled Worker. From what I understand, I cannot include my partner as a common-law partner since we have been living together for less than a year. So, I guess I have two options:
  • Wait a few more months and apply after we have been living together for 1 year.
  • Submit my profile now as a "single" applicant and update it later once the 12-months minimum has passed.
The second option is what confuses me: at what point is it best to include my partner if I start the application as a single applicant?
  • Before I get the (potential) ITA
  • After I get ITA but before I apply for PR
  • After I apply for PR but before receiving it
  • After I receive PR but before making first entry
Moreover, will my score be re-calculated in any case or only if the change occurs before I get the PR? I have read tons of stuff on this topic around the internet but I still can't figure out the best time to include my partner in the application.

Can someone who faced a similar situation help please? Any insights would be much appreciated!

The best time is to wait a few more months and officially live together for 1 year ~ Then create a profile and accept ITA

Trust me, save you tons of trouble and avoid any possible rejection in future

If you have to go with 2nd options, everything before ITA is still easier to explain...CIC is very strict on spouse/common-law/married because of potential fraud

Disagree with the previous poster. Create your profile now as single. If you get an ITA, apply for PR. Regardless of where you are in the process, you must add your partner when you become common-law.

If you become common-law BEFORE submitting your PR app, your score will be recalculated.

If you become common-law AFTER submitting your PR app, our score will not be recalculated.

That's exactly what I had understood! Thanks for the clarification I think this is what I'm going to do.
