Does LMO/AEO slow or expedite the process, if I'm eligible without them.

Hello everyone,

I plan to apply FSW on Oct. By that time I will have 1 year Canada work experience (NOC 217 or 228). So I will be eligible without AEO/LMO. In this case, will LMO/AEO do good to my application. I speculate that more points claimed lead to more paperwork thus longer processing time. But I was wondering if there is existing experience about whether LMO/AEO can expedite or slow down the process?

This question seems not common. Any clue is appreciated. Thanks

Lately we have observed that an AEO doesn't expedite the process (slowed -it wouldn't anyway), the timeframe pretty much remains the same as w/out one. However, the only benifit that one'd get with an AEO is:

1. U don't need to fall under the 38 NOC list.
2. Your case gets stronger.
3. U don't need to show the POF.

In any case the present processing time remains an avg 12 months. So, u might as well apply now [if u r in the 38 list] and submit the AEO later, if u desire. And if u r not in the 38 list, then the wait till Oct 2010 maybe fruitful/justified.

to get a positive AEO .. it would take 3-4 months .. which is waste of time

A positive AEO (not LMO) would lead to less paperwork for many people, by eliminating the need to document settlement funds. (Not to mention that proof of funds is a barrier for some applicants). Plus, by my calculation, the 3-4 months it takes to get one is a lot sooner than October 2010...

But you could actually bypass the AEO application process (assuming you are here on a post-grad work permit or other valid work permit, and you already have at least 1 year of experience in a skilled occupation). All you would need is a permanent job offer from your current employer... you could apply now with a letter from your employer.
