I'm anticipating being able to do my landing early next week. I'm sure there will send me info along with my returned passport, but I wanted to be able to assemble what I needed this weekend, just in case I had to hunt anything down.
So what documents/info are needed to be able to do the landing under the CEC? First of all, will the immigration officers know that my PR has been granted under the CEC guidelines? Will they expect to be able to see things like proof of funds or a letter from an employer, even though we don't need those under CEC? Anything other than passport/work permit/COPR? Do we need to provide proof of our Canadian address -- and what would consitute proof (would a utility bill do?)
Hi Nick - I just did the landing, it took me all of 10 minutes, and in my case, nothing was required other than the COPR and passport. The hardest part was making my signature fit into a box. But you know it varies... I've been in Canada for 3 years, and I did have a copy of my most recent pay statement "just in case."
I also I moved all my stuff in 3 years ago... Can't remember if you've been living in the US, but if you're bringing in your personal effects, you'll need paperwork for that too...
lol jes_ON , we did our landing on the same day, did we pass each other and didn't know it? LOL, i did mine in niagara falls.
anyways to the question, they only asked me for the passport and COPR, though i came PREPARED for WAR (LOL), carried with me job letter, 4 months of pay slips, college transcript, birth certificate, funds to name a few, LOL.
keep in mind, that both me and jes_on have lived in canada for quite a while, so maybe that's why they only asked for the passport and COPR, they do ask people for funds and job letter sometimes.
I landed in Sault Ste. Marie. The IO started out sternly, "What can I do for you...?" and then saw the paper and changed to "Oh wow, a confirmation..." He seemed happy to do it, don't know how many landings they get at
