Hi again,

The principal applicant document checklist shows that I need to include IMM5540 (which is the sponsor's form), but on the sponsor's document checklist it says to include an original of the same form. So, I just want to make sure if I need to provide two sets of these forms.

Thanks,
FS

You don't need two sets. Everything from both applications stays together.

But when I submit all the applications, they will be in different envelopes, so that's why I am confused...do I put my sponsor questionnaire in with the principal applicant forms, or with the sponsor forms??

Cheers,

FS

I'd put it with the sponsor's forms.

Is it so difficult to make a copy and include it in both?

If you were the person reviewing the file and had an extra piece of paper would it be a problem? Probably not as much if there was a piece of paper missing from a package.

Obviously it's not difficult to make copies, but thanks for the sarcasm.

My concern is that I don't know how particular CIC is when it comes to this kind of thing. Who knows, if I had a copy of one of my forms with my wife's applications, perhaps this might cause some kind of problem. I really have no way of knowing how touchy the VO's are when it comes to PR applications, and with my future hanging in the balance, I don't want to take ANY chances...I think that is fair enough, no?

Cheers,
FS

I completely understand that. The last thing anyone wants to do is p'o someone reviewing your file! I'm pretty sure it's just with the sponsor part though! :)

Honestly, that was not sarcasm. Put yourself in the position of someone making a decision. Is it more reasonable to have the information necessary to make the decision or not?

Think of some of the packages of material that are received from lawyers etc. by the decision maker and all the pages and pages that go into those. Is it reasonable that a decision to refuse would be hinged on 1 single extra page being included? However, if a single piece of very important information were missing, not provided the result could be quite different.

The decisions made are those that include what a reasonable person would do.

^ Fair enough.

All I'm saying is that I want to be 100% sure that what I submit is complete, accurate, and exactly how CIC wants it. I'm not going to bother making an extra copy because it doesn't actually say anywhere to copy a sponsor form and include it with the principal applicant forms. In the China document checklist, all it says is that there should be the sponsor questionnaire, but I'm guessing they mean that it should be included, not necessarily with the principal applicant forms...so all they need to do is check the sponsor forms, find it, check it, marvel at how great it is, then reject my application because I put it with the wrong forms!! haha...someone ought to reform CIC...

The other regional guides say the same thing - include 5540 if your sponsor is your spouse or partner. I've never heard of anyone copying the form and including it with both the sponsor's forms and the applicant's forms, though.
I think CIC is just reminding the applicants that if their sponsor is their spouse or partner, they have to include this form in the application package.

Will the application be going through Hong Kong or Beijing?

Hong Kong.

One quick point, is it fine to scan all our pictures, and nest them in MS Word (with captions)? Or do I need to include developed pictures?

That's fine just don't staple them together :)
