I'm being sponsored by my husband, and I'd like to know if I'll need a RCMP background check.
I was detained in Feb. 2008 after a domestic dispute between a former boyfriend and I, in which the police became involved. Upon investigation, the case was withdrawn and there was no conviction.
They did get my fingerprints though.

Hey!
Chances are they will ask for the rcmp. It seems like anyone who had there prints taken in canada even if there were no charges, need to get an rcmp clearance done.

Well, should I just sent it to make things faster?
And should I ask my husband to go get the prints removed? Cause after it happened, somebody told me I could go there later and ask them to take it out of the system.

Ive heard u can get the prints removed but im not sure how to do it. U could probably find out on the rcmp website or call them.
And i dont see why u cant send it early. Although ive never seen it done. Ive just seen people wait for it to be asked, but its not a bad idea, cuz it takes a couple months to process the prints unless u pay ottawa commisionares for an expediated process.
Thanks a lot!
Cause once it is removed, there won't be anything showing it!
From RCMP:
"How do I make a request to have my non-conviction record destroyed?
You must contact the local police agency that reported the original charge. The police agency will make the official request to have the non-conviction record destroyed. In some cases, fingerprints may also be required to confirm your identity."

Im sure you can.
You should try emailing them or calling them. They are usually very helpful and answer back fast.
Everytime i had to ask them something they were very helpful.
