Hello,

I have applied for my study permit for my studies at university A in July 2020, Received stage-1 approval in September, I have started my studies online from my home country in September 2020.

My study permit application has been approved in Jan 2021, and I hold a Port of Entry(POE) Letter or Correspondence Letter. I have also been issued a visitor visa for my entry to Canada on my passport. I have completed my year 1 of year 4 program at university A on April 29th,2021. This means I have completed one year of my studies at University A online and I have never been able to activate my study permit at the border because I haven't been to Canada before.

Now, I no longer want to attend my current university(A), and now I wish to transfer to university B in a different province.

Since my study permit application was approved long back and I have already completed one year of my studies online. What is the process to change my post-secondary DLI if I have never been to Canada before and I have already completed one year of my studies at the current university without ever visiting the university?

Please advise me on what to do.

The letter I have is a port of entry letter that is used to get a study permit at the border. I am at university A. I have applied for a study permit in July 2020 for my study in university A. I have started my studies online at university A in September 2020, and I have just(April 29th) completed my one-year studies out of four years in university A. I no longer wish to attend University A for the next three years, So I applied to university B. I have never been to Canada, and I have already completed one year of my studies online(25%). Now, I want to change my DLI, Can I change my DLI before coming to Canada online or do I need to apply for a new study permit all over again? I hope I have clarified my situation?

it is more advisable to go with your University A for another semester or year then switch. changing DLI within canada is much better than before traveling it will take some time. changing study permit after obtaining it is more smoother than before obtaining it.

if you want to change before landing, you need to re-apply for your SP. Otherwise, you can wait till you have landed (with the LOA of your current sch), received your SP, then change your DLI in your GCKey. You'll need to speak to both sch A and B about transferring credits for the year you've completed, if applicable.
