I've started fill out some of the forms to sponser my wife, some of the supporting documents from her country have 2 different spellings of her last name.
Should I have them redone? Her passport, criminal record and our marriage licence all have the same spelling.
I had her get some friends and family members to write short biographical letters to chronical our relationship, the translations to English have a different spelling of her last name.
She's from a SE Asian country if that makes any difference.
Dont worry as long as the passport and her application have the same last name its not going to be a big deal , I do not believe they will really give so much attention to it . It is not an official document so do not worry about it . I know every small detail begins to worry I was in the same boat myself . Just relax and complete the paperwork and send it . CIC is well aware of there being spelling mistakes , trust me they would rather see complete and signed forms rather than spelling mistakes. Good luck.
As long as the name on all official documents is the same, it's OK. Include a note with the translations stating that different translators transliterated her name in different ways, but they are all referring to the same person.
