Hello Community,

I want to understand the circumstances surrounding the delay in my study permit processing. I applied for a visa for my student permit (master's degree program) along with a dependent visa for my wife.

I submitted my study permit application on February 28, 2024, and completed biometrics on March 4, 2024. We submitted our medicals in January, and they were marked as completed on April 4, 2024. My classes were scheduled to start in July 2024, but since the visa was not approved in time, I deferred to the October 2024 winter semester.

Since April 4, my portal shows the following statuses:

Eligibility status: "We are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements."
Background checks: "We are processing your background check."
Final decision: "Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made."
I am very worried and concerned. I applied from Sri Lanka. I would appreciate any advice or experiences you could share regarding these types of study permits.

Thank you.

What school?

That can be the reason as I was going to ask if you are going to UCW. IRCC has asked many students from UCW for PAL even in doing a Masters. UCW is a known “college mill” only for international students and think IRCC is asking for PALs. Go on the International Student section and there may be some threads.

What country are you from?
