I checked my application status on line via CIC website and it says "Decision made" which from reading previous posts on this forum I gather means bad news. I applied in London in April 08, and they started "processing" my case in June 08. So anyone who applied similar time as me, maybe you want to check your status on line and see if there's been updates. Since my occupation is not on the list of 38, I guess there is not much else to do now exept wait for refund and put this whole thing behind me.
They started processing my case in Buffalo, New York on June 25, 2008. I checked my online status. It says that it is "in process". My occupation is not in the list.

They will send you a letter very soon
but to inform you that they refused your application
due to the NOC
my friend had the same but his case was decision made then he got the refusal letter 10 days after
they refused him due to the missing english test that he didn't provide
so his points total was 59 ( they gave him 8 out 24 in language assesment)
but all what can i say is you are lucky you got it fast as he was waiting almost 4 years
sorry and i wish you best of luck
I also applied through London CIC in May 08. I just checked the status of my application and it says 'Decision Made'. OMG I cant wait to get my money back in a far weaker British Sterling

I'm still not sure if mine has been 'rejected'; I'm just assuming. But the reason my application might be returned is that I didn't use the 'proper' NOC codes. The ones I used are not on the 38-list but my experience does fit certain other NOC codes so there's nothing stopping me from applying again with one or two of their chosen 38 codes.
See, this is what makes me laugh about the much talked about 'reforms' and resultant 38-list. Shrinking the occupation list to 38 is not REFORM. ..Reform is what Australia did to its immigration system a decade ago and how that's reaping the benefits now, and to be honest I was expecting Canadians will do the same. But instead, after keeping applicants waiting for almost 9 months (Mar-Nov), in the end this is what they came up with - the dear 38. After so much 'consultations' that was their solution to reduce the backlog and make their country benefit from skilled immigration, duh!!!
It seems that the demand now is for the occupations mentioned in the 38 list. This means that canada is satisfied with the number of electrical engineers, programmers, systems analysts, applications architects...etc..... But i think they will try to fill the demand for these jobs by trying to keep the international students who graduate from canada....
so in all, they are getting people with managerial skills from outside canada....and they are keeping the students who can do the non managerial jobs...
