December 2024 Outland Spousal Sponsorship Timeline

just got a letter stating 'you meet the requirements as a sponsor. However, no medical or biometrics have been done yet.

Quick question, the tracker shows eligibility - not started, is it the sponsor's eligibility or PA? Do PA go through eligibility as well?
However, background has been in process since AOR.
GCkey doesnt show any progress.

Eligibility in tracker is for PA(is this tracker using PA UCI to login?) I have 2 tracker- 1 for pa and another for sponsor. Pa goes thru eligibility and BGC

Medical passed/ completed: Feb 14, 2025

It seems the last but big check is running. I've seen it the first time between Feb 4th and 6th right after my eligibility was confirmed. "We're processing your background check......" Im curious how long it will take.

No I did not. Often just the sponsor receives an eligibility letter.

I applied for sponsoring my spouse (outland) on Dec 2nd. Currently, tracker is showing Background verification completed and I can also see COPR details in the tracker but no passport request has been emailed.

Do you know what this means?

Applying for spousal sponsorship: My spouse is in Canada on a PGWP valid till July 2026. Considering inland processing time (28 months) vs. outland (faster).

Can we apply for an OWP with an outland application while he remains in Canada?

If outland is approved, would he receive PPR or eCOPR directly (since he’s physically here)?

Did you submit the sponsorship application in Dec 2024? If so you should have received the AOR.
With the AOR, if your spouse is in Canada now, he can apply for OWP.
Or he can wait till it's closer to his current PGWP expiry to apply for OWP, if spousal sponsorship application still hasn't been approved by then.

Congratulations, There is always some days to weeks delay once you can see the COPR details.
You don’t have to worry about anything, your process is done and you will get your ppr anytime soon.

I have also applied on Dec 2, when did your BG got updated to complete ?

Congrats! I applied around the same day but inland. Not going to lie, with these processing times I really wish I had known before that applying outland from within Canada was a choice hahaha. Happy for you though.

I recently received a letter which doesn't have a subject as Passport Request , it actually says -Please review your contact details -in the subject line, but one of the section has general info abt passport submission or copy of passport submission along with other documents within 30 days, so completed that step.lets see

Did you ever receive approval for the principal applicant? I believe it's also called Approval in Principle (AIP). Also, which country is your PA from, and was it an inland or outland application?
