If it’s any consolation, I didn’t get a ghost update so there’s still a chance it may not be a glitch.

I just called ircc and they said there is no update so probably it is a glitch

I don’t think it’s the fingerprints per se that are causing this, more so our application timing.

For example, I don’t need fingerprints and I’m also waiting (I think a few others are too).

I think what a previous user posted is likely the case. Our month is likely on pause while they scramble to reduce the backlog from that 12-16 month cutoff. It annoyingly makes sense for them to reallocate staff off a single period and carry on processing January onwards applicants. I wonder if it’s because less people may have applied in December.

What the approach is after this is a little concerning.

The good news is that it doesn’t seem to be the worst case scenario where there’s a complex issue with our individual applications since there seems to be a lot of us on hold.

Honestly, I have very little idea about how IRCC processes citizenship applications, maybe they met their targets for 2023 applications and thus putting more emphasis on 2024 applications. In any case, we are still lucky. A couple years ago the application processing took up to two years.

Don't want to get too excited but everyone on this thread who got a GU applied between December 5th - 8th, please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's as big an indication of it likely being meaningful as any. Maybe one of them could call in today to see what it was.

Applied Dec 5, no GU for me or my wife.
I dont know if I should be sad.
