In my case it has been mentioned on DD cleary that ""valid for 3 months"

Why don't you send a new DD to OINP? The old one will be refunded.

It seems like a reasonable follow-up because it took OINP more than 3 months to get to your file.

u mean to say spend 1500 CAD sending them a new DD? And suppose they have deposited the same it will be more confusion.

IF they return the application u can get your 1500 CAD back and than again send new application. thats the only solution

All domestic DD's in India are valid for 3 months, however foreign currency DD is valid for 6 months.

This holds good for all banks in India.

Additionally, You can cancel the DD before or after the expiry of it as long as it's not been encashed. You will have to submit an affidavit to the bank to get the refund.

Foreign currency DD is valid for 6 months, because these DD' are not issued so frequently bankers usually tell out the domestic DD validity duration.

This is a mistake by the back, it should be 6 months, I think the bank has processed it like a domestic DD. it should still be valid of 6 months as per RBI regulations.

Well you sound so confident that gives some relief. But still can we mail them asking them to deposit the DD before it expires?

This is first time ON is taking more than 90 days just to send AOR, and thus there is no incidence that there is rejection due to expired DD. In ths cas we all must drop a mail to On asking them to deposit the DD. and process the application whenever they want.

If it's true that the DD expires in 3 months, then the funds will be returned to the account anyway if the DD wasn't encashed. It's the SOP of unused bank drafts. It's just a matter of issuing a fresh DD. They can do this if they want to save some time.

They can certainly do your option too, but the application will be moved back to the end of the queue once again.

they cant reissue a Dd unless you handover the old one. Neither can they extend the validity without old DD. you you have to wait for an intimation from ON that your application is being returned.

Hope if such thing happens they give us time to resubmit application in 15 days with a fresh DD. lets see what happens to 25th November applicant CPRaspirant whose DD is already expired. IF he gets AOR its fine with all of us.

Even I got my DD made from SBI and submitted it to OINP.
I have made photocopy of the DD - in which it is clearly mentioned "REQUIRES REVALIDATION BY ISSUING OFFICE IF PRESENTED AFTER SIX MONTHS FROM DATE OF ISSUE"
This means it is valid for 6 months from the date of issue.
