Hi Forum,
I got Married on January 15, 2009 ( is this the date my marriage was arranged )
Ok there is a question on Sponsored Person Questionairre Form IMM 5490 Q# 17.
Q)Was your Marriage Arranged
Ans = Yes
Q. Who arranged the Marriage
Ans = Our Parents
Q)When was the Marriage Arranged?
Ans. Jan 15th 2009
I am confused, do i put down the date my marriage took place i.e. January 15th, 2009?
or are we suppose to put down the date Parents decided that we will get married? If so, then that would be a few months before our Marriage Date of January 15th, 2009, example October 1st, as talks started back then loosely.
need advice pls
tx forum!

No, not the date of the marriage, the dates the parents decided that you two would be a suitable match.

what will happen if we use the marriage date?
I called the hotline, and the rep said use the date that the marriage was registered.
why is this question so important?

Because if you use the date of the marriage as the same as arranged by the parents, won't look odd that a marriage was arranged on the same date as agreement, and also it looks like the marriage was a sudden thing. This will probably bring an interview, but it is your choice do what you choose.

Date registered means what? The date the parents decided that the wedding would take place or the date the wedding took place? Confusing.

In our case, the date registered was the date that the official sent the signed marriage documents into city officials. Not sure if it's the same case here.
Sponsored Person Questionnaire Form IMM 5490 Q# 17.
Was your Marriage Arranged?
Ans = Yes
Who arranged the Marriage?
Ans = Our Parents
The next two questions asks WHEN and WHERE was the marriage arranged. What do I write? I'm getting mixed responses.
For the WHEN part, do I write the date when my spouse and I decided on a marriage date OR the date we got married?
Likewise ... for the WHERE part, do I write where the marriage took place OR do I write the place where we were on the day we decided on a marriage date?

They're asking you when your marriage was arranged, not the day you got married.
Write the day your parents decided you were to get married and the place it was decided.
Do not write the day of your wedding, do not write the day you picked a date to get married, write when your parents decided you were getting married.
Best of luck!

Thank you! But what about the
WHERE segment? They decided on a date over the phone. So do I write
PHONE here?
Spoke to CIC they want to know the date the marriage was finalized and where it was decided. If both parents did it, then where were the two sides.
Hey,
Actually i am going to put my Spouse PR under family class in Canada class. i am PR and my spouse on Work permit. She came as a student in 2018. me and my spouse were know each other from last 5 years and we were in the relationship from last 2 years and live at same address in Canada. She is in Canada from last 5 years as well.
We just got married in India and came back. So what should i write in the question " Was your marriage arranged'?
Because we choose each other first and then let our parents know about it. So should i write yes or No ???
Thanks in advance

Why did you reply to a 10 years old discussion?
It doesn't sound like an arranged marriage.
When did you become PR? How long have you and your spouse lived together when you landed as PR (or get eCOPR)?
