Hello all,
I am a current pharmacy student in the USA working towards my doctor of pharmacy degree. My boyfriend lives in Canada, and we are exploring options for me to move there after I graduate in approximately 2 years. I have found extensive information about acquiring my pharmacist license and taking the law exam (for Alberta), but I'm struggling with the visa requirements.
Pharmacists are "NOC 3131" "Skill Type A". I see that work experience of 1 year, full time work is required, or an equivalent amount of part time work. In my final year of pharmacy school, I will do several full time rotations in various pharmacy settings, and I also will be working part-time as a pharmacy intern. Between these two things, will I meet the working requirement to apply right away for express entry, or do I actually have to work as a pharmacist in the USA for a year?
If not - could I try to get a job offer and apply for a temporary working permit to accumulate the needed work experience while living in Canada?
Really, I am just looking for the best/quickest way possible to move to Canada after I graduate. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
