Crossing the US Border

I've been told that if I have a Canadian tourist visa on my Chinese passport, I can cross the US border by car without an US visa.

Is that true? I hate to find out the truth when I'm about to cross the border.

No - it's not true. Canada and the US are two completely separate countries. A Canadian visitor visa will not allow you to enter the US. If you need to obtain a US visitor visa to enter the US.
