I'm planning to cross the border after my PR was approved sometime in August. But considering I'm currently working in the US, my first entry to Canada will be for 10 days only post which I plan on returning back to the US to resume working. Following are some questions I have regarding my travel:
1. Considering I will be driving into Canada through Detroit, can I take my car which is currently leased in the US (would there be any specific process that I will have to follow in order not to declare this as a vehicle owned by me)
2. Apart from the all the documents, is there anything specific I should be carrying along with me.
You can take your car, but you may need to explain to the officer that you're not moving permanently yet and that when you do make the permanent move, you will either own the car outright and import it or will not be taking the car with you at all.
Technically you aren't supposed to need it if you aren't moving permanently yet, but some officers don't interpret the rules this way, so you should probably get your goods accompanying/goods to follow lists filled out (BSF186/186a-- you can search on the forum for more info) in case they ask for them. If you will be taking your car with you later on, make sure it is on your goods to follow list.
