I have a friend who wants to visit the U.S.
His study visa is still valid upto 2014.He can either go there by road or by plane.How does he gets his visitation visa,how long can he be allowed to visit(maximum duration).
He lives in vancouver, Any american immigration office there?

The visa officer determines duration. But people usually get a 1 year multiple entry visa. As he is a student, he needs to satisfy the officer than he intends to return to Canada after visiting e.g. proof of registration & fee payment this semester. If he has a job, include letter from employer and have sufficient funds.

I might move there permanently,my friends tell me life is affordable and not as expensive in canada.Off campus housing rooms are like 250 pm inclusive of hydro and heat and jobs too.
