Me and my wife will be applying for PR within the first week of the new year, however I have a question. My wife will write a personal statement, that is a given, however I am wondering about the following:
Include a "Cover Letter" summarizing what is included in the package.
Include my own personal statement.
What are your thoughts on the two above? If you agree with the cover letter, from who's perspective should it be written (or should it be third person?)
Cover letter: unnecessary unless you have a vast pile of documents. Usually the list of documents in Appendix A (which you must enclose in your application bundle) suffices but if (for example) you have so many documents that the VO is likely to have difficulty in finding individual items, an index might be useful. That involves arranging the documents in sub-bundles, numbering them and then setting out the numbers in a list with a brief description of each sub-bundle.
Personal statement. I assume you are the proposed sponsor? Again a personal statement is unnecessary unless you have something to explain. For example a short supplementary sheet from the sponsor explaining difficulties in fitting information on the application for sponsorship form; things like our address has no street number or box number, your software keeps on rejecting what I try to explain and the full and correct address is so and so, your form only provides space for one former spouse and I had two, I have no idea of the whereabouts of one of them and do not remember his date of birth and matters of that kind!
