Course is 2 year Visa is for Seven months, Now?

One more thing:

You must seek entry to Canada to obtain your study permit by (yyyy/mm/dd). Your passport must
be valid beyond the period you intend to remain in Canada. If not, the validity of your study permit will not be
issued beyond the expiry date of your passport

I got the letter mentioning above, which means Study permit will be issued up to the date of passport validity only
Means up to May 2017. In that case, I have to apply in about Jan 2017 for Passport Renewal, and Study Permit renewal as well from inside Canada only
Am I right?

Bottom line is My son can enter easily in Canada with this Visa.
Has to apply for Passport Extension in January 2017
Get visa renewed for next term up to the course duration minimum.
So, at this junction, I can take a sense of relief up to January.
Am I right?
Sorry guys, why I am extending it too much, is only because I have invested most of my saving and of course if anything adverse happen, my son will crash down no doubt.....

visa doesnt get renewed its new everytime. So first get passport renewed ASAP. if the passport is valid for 2+ years and visa valid at the time of entry into canada he will get study permit for 2 years so he can stay for 2 years. But next time he wants to leave canada he will have to apply for new visa(TRV) so he will have 2 years to do that from within canada.
ur biggest problem is if the passport does not get renewed in time i.e. April 2017.
