Hello everyone

I received a passport request and since the medicals expiry date is in FEB 2021 so i assumed this will also be the expiry date of the visa/COPR.

I wanted to have it extended another 6 months (COVID times are weird) so i sent a letter along with the passport requesting that.

Do you think they will accept? And if they dont what are my options?

Thanks in advance.

I have looked into this and what I understand right now is no, they will not just "issue an extension."

Current policy is that if your COPR/visa expires, you contact IRCC only when you are ready to travel with proposed travel itinerary (and they give some kind of specific authorisation).

I was told that 'right now' they are mostly not requiring new medicals for this. (No guarantees it will not change in future)

On the positive side, they stated that COPR holders with expired copr/visa "will" be let in even after the expiry date. (Must state covid issues, but the implication was that they will be lenient).

Again, this is unfortunately not a guarantee, and policy could change in future.
