I have applied for CEC on OCT and my current closed WP is expiring in April 2014. I have three options and now able to understand which one should be good for me.
1. Apply for BOWP myself once I receive AOR
Pro: No medical required, Can switch job when want
Con: Need to pay from my pocket, valid only for one year
2. Apply for WP extension through my company
Pro: Valid for two year, company will pay for expense, valid for two year
Con: Cannot change job until I get PR
3. A company is ready to file LMO and then WP for me
Pro: Better job opportunity
Con: Unknown wait time for LMO, chance of WP rejection, Cannot change job until I get PR

Firstly, you don't really have three options but only 2: BOWP or LMO/WP.
Secondly, its not even a question as BOWP provides you with much better conditions while allowing enough time to get your PR, while on the other hand 6 months may not be enough time to obtain LMO+WP. Wait until one-two months before your WP expires and then apply for BOWP to maximize your WP time.
If you are 100% confident in your workplace but not so sure your PR application going to be approved you can ask your company to apply for LMO and then apply either for closed or open work permit close to April when you know more about status of your PR application.
