Well people, seems I am going to be wed to my Cute Canadian Chick, not a bad result at all.
Only question now is when and how?
I fancy the Elvis ceremony, anyone else got any ideas?
My advice to you is to do it in Canada. They make you jump through some hoops in UK. In England the Canadian would have to be there for 21 days, unless you head up to Scotland, but they require a ton of paperwork 8 weeks in advance. N Ireland is another option, but still has a lot of red tape.
In good ol' Canada, you go to the registry 3 days prior, get your license and you're good to go!
Not sure about Elvis though....that's Vegas, which would also be fun! Just make sure to take a ton of pictures for evidence, and keep receipts for things like rings, marriage commissioner, reception, etc.
In Vancouver, you just pop along to London Drugs, whom will issue you a license....if you have pre booked a commissionaire as well..you could in theory, get married in London Drugs and shop for bathroom tissue after-wards.
Its that quick and easy in BC, I know this, as a friend from the UK married her American partner right here in my house. It was the quickest, easiest way, as both America and the UK require special visa's if you intend to marry in either Country.
Hi all,
Just a quick update on progress, and to say belated thanks for all the good wishes received from the members of this forum.
Have had medical and passed, Police check returned with No Trace, Potential VM-BASIC, treated to a very shiny Diamond to make engagment official, all forms for sponsorship filled in and signed, but not dated.
Now need to get The Pot VM to the registrar and make all official, then post off to the great Admin Vortex that is Immigration.
Will keep you all posted as to progress.
Thanks H B, cant praise the members of this site enough, not just for the amount and depth of knowledge they have, but also for the banter and general good feeling they inspire.
Gentlemen and Ladies, I salute you!!!
Well, will raise a glass to you all in the bar later

Angelbrat, just want to point out that in the United States that would be a state law, I did not need any special visa or anything when I got married to my American husband...as the guy at the registry office said, "All you need is photo ID, $70 and a guy to marry"...If I am not mistaken the marriage process is a state issue not a federal issue, so every state has different laws....I was married in Arizona...
