As per the "QS World University Ranking" (2008), Concorida stands 20th in Canada and 357th in the world order.
In the latest 2010/11 survey, both of them stands very close in the range of 401 - 450 (Carleton is bit higher) in the world order. McGill is the top one with 19th rank in the world order and 1st among Canadian Universities.

@snake: I called Quebec Immigration yesterday regarding CAQ and they told me to call back as it takes at least 3 weeks to process CAQ. BTW, I sent in my application on April 4th.

Dont wait for CAQ by mail, it takes a looong time, I was approved on April 15, still I haven't got my CAQ. So I called Concordia university International office as well as Quebec Immigration, they said to apply with the forwarding letter.
For Software Engineering or anything in IT your better off obtaining a professional course that will lead to certification. The problem with the University programs is that by the time you graduate what you learned is already outdated. Carleton in generally a much more superior University however maybe not for It.
