I am preparing both EE and Common law with my Canadian Citizen gf. The thing is we have been together for almost 4 years and lived for like 2 years together but not much to prove for that 2 years of living together... We just started preparing for Common law now.... so I guess got an 1 more year to apply from now...
So frustrating that I didn't think of common law before....
The date of your marital status change is one year after you began living together.
You're supposed to file this form within one month of a change in marital status, but even if you didn't do that, go ahead and file it anyway. (There won't be any penalties for being late).
I am also. I came to Canada 3 years ago with my partner, who attends grad school here. We had to prove our common law status before I was allowed to come to Canada with him, and was given an open work permit. Having now worked in Canada for more than 2 years, I am the primary applicant on our PR application. It's fine. No different from having a spouse as far as immigration and PR status are concerned.
I am applying with my common law partner under express entry. We are living together since July 2013. However in my work permit application in 2014 I checked my status as single. My partner was also on workpermit at that time. she applied for her work permit in June 2013 and at that time we were not living together, so she ticked single. however i made a mistake. Can this be changed now??
Will this gonna affect my express entry application?
Well, yes, we did. When my partner applied for a student visa, I applied to accompany him and get a work permit. We had to prove our common law relationship to the Canadian Embassy in Vienna. Now we are also applying for PR together. Why did you not say you had a common law partner, once you had been living together for a year? I think it's always best to be truthful with CIC, even if it's disadvantageous.
My girlfriend and I have been living together since october 2014 to January 2015 in France and from February 2015 till now in Canada (she joined me later). I have absolutely no evidence or proof, only witnesses that we have been living together in France but for Canada I have all the necessary proof (lease, credit card, insurance...).
I created my express entry profile and put her as my common law partner and it says that I have 471 points.
Only after I found out that to put her as my common law partner we need to live together for 1 year in Canada and to have a statutory declaration of common law status. Is that true ?
If so, should I withdraw my profile and wait until february to apply with the necessary documentation? Or should I just let my profile in, since I don't think I will have a invitation before February ?
