Hi,

My boyfriend is a Canadian citizen and wants to sponsor me as his common-law partner. We've been together for 4 years and living together for 2 years. However, we don't really have a proper lease agreement because we've been living most of the time at his best friend's. He could obviously write us a letter or a rental agreement with rental receipts as well but I'm afraid the officers would question these saying we could just be roommates... Would it be better to get the letter and/or the rental agreement notarized, so then it looks more official?

In the same idea, we spent one year together in France, living at my parents. Could we consider this as living in a common-law union? We weren't paying any rent but they're ready to help us writing a letter.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Audrey

rental agreements are only one of many possible types of evidence you can submit.
