Please i applied for my study permit via paper route and was approved.my course requires a co-op term too.but i did not see any question like "does your study require you to work " while i was applying.can i apply for my co-op permit now before i get to canada or it would be given to me at the POE?...

Did the letter of acceptance from the university state that in addition to a TRV you would require a co-op work permit? What does the counterfoil of TRV state Visa type S-1 or SW-1?

You can apply for co-op permit once in Canada this is free, just apply early 3 months before your co-op starts at least. You will need some supporting docs from your school.

The LOA states that co-op required..the counterfoil of TRV has S-1 on it

Just follow what bongoman has said he is correct. You should have been issued a SW-1 visa but now you can apply for a co-op permit as bongoman suggested. Contact the international student department of your university and they will provide you with the necessary supporting documents.

There are some schools in partner with co-op work like the Vancouver Career College.
