Hi - I have sent my legal name change document part of my citizenship application(which is in progress), all the email communications, i get are still in my old name, should i presume, i will get my citizenship certificate with my new change (after the last step)?
Anyone got your name change part of your application process, pls. share your thoughts.

Hmmm, that's interesting. If you provided proof of name change, IRCC should have changed it in their system as long as you've mentioned the new name on the application and provided them with proof.

Did anyone have the issue of a citizenship certificate with the old name even though you have submitted all the documents and mentioning in the application?
If a person gets his/her certificate with the old name, what should be done to correct it.
We think the process is finished. But IRCC loves us so much.

I don't know anyone personally who had this problem.
But if the citizenship certificate you were given has your old name, you'd probably have to apply for a replacement and provide all documentation. AFAIK, this is a 'regular' replacement application and could potentially take several months. (17 months currently).
Most of us can't wait 17 months for a passport. Not sure if there is a way to get the name on the passport updated without waiting for the new citizenship certificate. But you have to try. There was one member that did this on this forum, with detailed information in their signature. I don't remember the name of this person though.

a document explaining why you have a new last name, for example:
a relationship change
a legal name change, a court order or an adoption order
the reclamation of your Indigenous name"
Truthfully, there should never be any need to get a new citizenship certificate with the updated name (who is going to ask for proof of citizenship with the updated name when you have a passport that shows it?), but if you want to, go ahead.
They even say there's a way to do it urgently - but it must be sent by mail. I think anyone who's seen how quickly IRCC handles mail (and return mail) might be a bit skeptical about how fast that might be. (I don't know if you'd have issues either using the 'mistaken' citizenship certificate eg as a photocopy in the interim.)
And who even knows if IRCC would accept that the mistake was theirs?
So if it were me I'd probably apply for the passport with changed name as above and apply for a new citizenship certificate later (or never).

Thank you @armoured for your suggestions. I saw that we can't apply for a Passport in Service Canada for this kind of application. Do I have to visit the passport office? If it is the passport office, then can I apply standard/express/urgent with this name thing. If I apply for express/urgent will they give 5/10 year passport or a 2-year validity one?
I saw somewhere a person got 2 year validity when he applied under urgent /weekend service

The process is same as applying for a new passport if you are going to change your name. You can't "Renew" a passport when you want to change your name.
Are you changing your name, sex or gender identifier, date of birth or place of birth on the new passport? (required)
Yes
No
See what the procedure is to apply for a new passport and follow the same process. At this time, I think you'd have to apply by mail if it isn't an urgent/express application AFAIK. For you to apply using express/urgent application, you'd have to have proof of travel.

You can apply for the Canadian passport with old name on your citizenship certificate & other documents has to be a new name on a Provincial issued ID and a name change certificate issued by the province.
No need to wait for 17-months to get a new citizenship certificate with updated name.
This is why i will wait before starting the legal name change… once i get oath invitation i will start it.
i know passeport u can submit with the name change certificate with citizinship on old name
